HOW TO REACH pontresina
BY CAR
You can reach the Engadine via roads that are well maintained all year round, via the Julier Pass, the Albula Pass (summer only), the Bernina and Maloja Passes, or via the Lower Engadine.
In winter, particularly when it is snowing, crossing the passes is only permitted with snow chains or in 4x4 vehicles. We recommend checking the road conditions in real time.
Once you arrive in Pontresina, you can park your car (for a fee) in our covered car park or in our outdoor parking spaces (subject to availability), or in other nearby municipal car parks.
Distances from major cities:
• Zurich – Pontresina: 200 km, 3 hours
• Basel – Pontresina: 250 km, 4 hours
• Milan – Pontresina: 175 km, 3 hours
• Munich – Pontresina: 300 km, 4 hours
THE MANY ALPINE PASSES (such as the Maloja, Bernina and Julier) are a real treat for motorcyclists.
BY TRAIN
The journey on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) from Chur via Tiefencastel to the Engadin, with its spiral tunnels and dizzying viaducts, is one of the most picturesque and fascinating railway lines in Europe (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It is also possible to travel from Landquart through the Klosters–Vereina Tunnel to the Engadin. This will take you from Zurich AB to Pontresina in around 3 hours.
If you would like to use our free shuttle from the station, please let us know your arrival time in advance (ideally at least one day in advance). We will arrange a free transfer to your hotel for you. The service runs from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. The free service is available only on arrival and departure days.
THE NEAREST BUS STOP is Pontresina Post. It is less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
